On a very wet Sunday afternoon at Bisham Abbey, Marlow Utd continued their fine start to the season with another strong team performance.
The first half of the game was competitively fought on a slippery surface with attacking pressure being applied by both sides before Wesley Bobb was able to pick up a loose ball and burst through the Aylesbury defence to score the first goal for Marlow. This was shortly followed by a nonchalant chip from outside the 18 yard box by Chris Nelson which deceived the Aylesbury goalkeeper to score the second goal of the half.
Some excellent marking and defending by Michael Burnett and Steve Douglas limited the best of the Aylesbury attacks.
In the second half Marlow was able to capitalise on their lead by making the most of their ball possession and applying a continued attacking threat and pushing back the Aylesbury mid-field and defence.
Adam Hazell took an excellent shot to increase the score followed by Dan Moore with a great attacking run from mid-field to score the fourth goal. Adam Hazell took a well timed header from a corner to make it five and Wesley Bobb’s persistence up front paid off with a brace of goals to make the score
6 – 0.
Aylesbury town took a late consolidation goal after winning a penalty to make the final score 6 – 1.
Marlow’s unbeaten run continues with a fourth straight league victory and with the team playing some of their best football so far this season.
