'A fantastic team result today which secures our 6th win in a row which should see us stay top of the league for Xmas.

All the work, focus, determination and team discipline has really paid off and everyone stepped up a gear and produced some outstanding football. Our defence was like a brick wall today, the opposition just couldn't break it down. Then you look at the midfield who engineered attack after attack. The wingers worked hard and made good strong attack and dropped into the key areas when defending. The strikers where just on fire.... and finally our sub today was a superstar for being patient on the sub bench.............WOW! what a team.

The trip to Wembley couldn't have come at a better time for us to go and have some fun (you all deserve it)

MATCH REPORT

Both teams united at the start of the match to honour the men and women killed in conflicts past and present with a two-minute silence. Then it was down to business as the top two teams in the division competed in a closely fought game.

Marlow took an early lead after the SYCOB goalie failed to hold a shot and Adam Hazell reacted quickest to the loose ball to make the score 1-0.

Marlow maintained the majority of possession in the 1st half and had several half chances to further extend their lead. But the SYCOB attacking presence was always there and after goalkeeper Charlie Perry had come off his line several times to win the fifty fifty through ball, the last one eluded him and the central defender Steve Douglas cleared a shot off the Marlow goal line to concede a corner. A well taken corner by Beaconsfield scored the equaliser from an uncontested header taking the teams into half time on an equal footing.

Man of the match Chris Nelson was the difference between the sides in the second half as he competed for every ball in the midfield breaking up the blistering pace of the SYCOB attackers and providing the service to Marlow’s forward with a couple of shots on target himself.

Wesley Bobb broke the deadlock with a well taken 2nd goal to give Marlow a 2 -1 lead, but still Beaconsfield showed their skill, pace and physical presence to bring out the best in Marlow’s defenders.

The game was eventually finished off late in the second half after Adam Hazell took a gamble on a lost ball in the Beaconsfield half and unexpectedly won the ball from the SYCOB defender to lay on a great cross to Wesley Bobb who tucked the ball easily past the diving Beaconsfield goalkeeper to make the final score 3-1 to the home side.

With no more league games before Xmas and an unbeaten six straight league wins, the “Flying Blues” can now concentrate on the next round of the 3 cup campaigns in the knowledge they have an unassailable grip on the top spot in the run up to the second half of the season.
