We anticipated a hard game and obviously Beaconsfield SYCOB did their bit to challenge us. But when it came down to it we had a major wake up call the week before and the game plan we had trained on went into over drive and all the team stood strong and work hard. SYCOB played exceptionally well and gave us a few problems, but in the true form we managed to up the tempo and took control of the game to put us straight back on track to win the league.

MATCH REPORT

After the disappointment of losing the previous week, Marlow United bounced back with a hard fought victory over second place league rivals Beaconsfield SYCOB.

Marlow played the more expansive football in the first half playing some great through balls to allow the attacking duo to create a 3 – 0 lead for Marlow at half time.

But after the break, SYCOB took the initiative and their chances to turn around the game and at 3 -2 Marlow made a defensive error and gave away two penalties in short succession. Goalkeeper Charlie Perry made a fantastic diving save to stop the 1st penalty but was powerless to stop the second with SYCOB drawing the game level at 3 - 3.

A double substitute by Marlow Utd allowed brothers Sidney and Bradley Obiorah to rest back the initiative and eventually Wesley Bobb was able to score his second goal to push Marlow ahead at 4 – 3.

The SYCOB goalie took a bad knock and had to be substituted, however no goalie was going to stop Marlow’s fifth goal as Bradley Obiorah flew in from midfield to smash his first goal of the season against the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net.

Marcus Shallow then made the game certain for Marlow picking up the loose ball from a cross from Dan Browne to score his fifth goal of the season.

Marlow needed a win and they got it. They needed a convincing win and they got it. The race for league title is very much back on.
