The second league game of the season was another tough match for Marlow Utd against a very strong Chalfont St Peter team who had a strong physical presence.
After a closely fought first 30 minutes, Marlow won a free kick about 25 yards out and captain 'Moore' took an excellent looping shot which dipped deceptively to beat the Chalfont goalkeeper.
Chalfont were then unfortunate to lose their main striker through injury later in the half and Marlow looked comfortable but were unable to capitalise further on their lead despite several opportunities in front of goal and a solid defence from Chalfont.
In the second half despite continued chances the game remained at 1 – 0. Chalfont made a late and concerted bid to get back into the game with 15 minutes of pressure towards the end and were unlucky not to get a equaliser from a corner where the ball was scrambled off the line
Eventually Marlow were able to counter attack with ' Bobb' holding up the ball and allowing Man of the Match 'Hazell' to strike and score the second and winning goal late in the game.
Another solid performance from Marlow Utd who showed good resilience and kept their shape under pressure.
