After the disappointment of losing in the 3rd round of the Berks and Bucks cup a fortnight earlier, Marlow struck back with an empathic 4 -0 victory against Loudwater to take their place in the quarter final of the Referees cup.
Marlow produced an outstanding display against a well organised Loudwater team after a frustrating month of postponed fixtures due to bad weather.
Adam Hazell opened the scoring within 10 minutes with a glancing header from a cross from fellow striker Wesley Bobb.
Some tidy interplay between Chris Nelson and Wesley Bobb led to the second goal scored by Wesley Bobb from a flowing one two movement which cut the Loudwater central defence in half.
The home side continued to dictate play in the first half with some excellent control and passing from Jonathan Liberty and Marcus Shallow down the wing.
At the start of the second half Dan Moore took an opportunistic right cross field shot which bounced wickedly in front of the Loudwater goalie to score the third goal for Marlow.
Man of the match Dan Browne tirelessly ploughed up and down the wing creating several crosses for the forwards to attack the Loudwater goal and from which Wesley Bobb scored his second goal.
Loudwater played some decent football and placed Marlow under pressure on several occasions including a number of counterattacking and dead ball attacks but were unable to make their efforts count against the Marlow back four and Goalie who kept their sixth clean sheet of the season.
The “Flying Blues” now move onto the Quarter final of the Referees cup with a tantalising home tie against AFC Lightning.
